Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
Platelet Rich Plasma is your own blood component which is hyper-concentrated using sophisticated
centrifuge and cell separators, which is injected in the scalp.
It is full of growth factors which act like fertiliser for both your existing hair and newly implanted hair.
Human hair undergoes a series of events during its life-cycle namely anagen, catagen and telogen
phase. It is during the Catagen phase that the hair starts detaching from its root and finally sheds
away in the Telogen phase. At any given point of time, approximately 5-10% of hair is in catagen or
Telogen phase, which means that the density you see in your scalp is not your full potential. PRP
accelerates the hair growth cycle to restart the anagen phase and let your existing hair grow which
are otherwise lying dormant in the scalp.
Hair Transplant Methods
FUT = Follicular Unit Transplant
The surgeon harvests a strip of skin from the back portion of the scalp, where the hair growth is
good and has hair that is genetically resistant to hair-fall.
Each hair follicle is utilised from the harvested strip, while dissecting using the binocular stereo
magnification loupes
This allows the surgeon to obtain a relatively higher proportion of hair follicle units which can be
used to provide a denser hair pattern
The area from which the strip of scalp has been harvested is closed using the latest method of
plastic surgery called the ‘Trichophytic closure’, which allows a much finer scar while preserving the
neighbouring hair follicles. This technique helps us achieve a very fine and linear scar, which has
hair growing out of the scar as well. The eventual result is a thin scar at the back of head that is
completely hidden in the hair pattern
FUE = Follicular Unit Extraction
In FUE procedure, individual hair follicles are extracted using highly delicate micro-motors. These
follicular units are then relocated to new sites where very fine punctures are created by the
surgeon using micro-blades or fine needles.
These puncture sites are the most important work-of-art, as they determine the density, the pattern
of hair-growth and the angle of hair-growth from the scalp in different areas. A qualified plastic
surgeon knows the subtle change in angles required over different areas of the scalp to provide
the most natural-looking hair growth pattern
The donor sites of FUE follicles eventually heal and are hidden among the surrounding hair, which
is virtually unrecognisable even while combing or with short hair.
We use a combination of micro-grafts and mini-grafts during FUE to provide adequate density and
a natural-looking hairline.

What to expect after a hair transplant?
‘Shock-loss’ – Virtually all of the hair follicles that are transplanted, will fall out. This happens owing to the
trauma suffered during extraction & re-implantation/relocation. This is just the hair shaft that falls off.
After 2-3 months, new hair develops from the follicle which has now taken up firmly in its new location, just
like a sapling takes up in new soil
This new hair strand grows normally and continues to thicken over next six to nine months.
The permanent result of a hair transplant can be appreciated completely only after eight to nine months of
the procedure
Things to take care of before your hair transplant procedure.
Avoid smoking in all forms, at least one week prior to your procedure. Smoking results in poor graft uptake
& also contributes to hair loss.
Inform your doctor if you are on any medication.
Blood thinners need to be discontinued before the procedure.
Stop Aspirin two weeks prior to the surgery
Avoid multi-vitamins and health supplements, Vitamin E supplements, herbal medicines, Ginseng, Ginkgo
& other such products as they may cause thinning of blood
Avoid vigorous exercise/straining a day before your surgery.
Stay away from harsh and direct sunlight exposure for 2 weeks before your surgery.
If you are on medications for high blood pressure or diabetes, please follow your routine daily medication
protocol, along with taking your meals as per daily schedule.
Gentle head massage to sides and the back of your scalp (moving the scalp skin up & down) would
improve your scalp skin flexibility and help your hair transplant surgeon to obtain more follicles for
transplant.
Avoid shaving/trimming/dyeing your hair for one week prior to hair transplant.
Hair transplant – On the day of the procedure
Please arrive timely on the day of your procedure. This allows your surgeon to complete all the
pre-operative preparations and formalities, while allowing ample time dedicated to your procedure.
Wear loose and comfortable clothes to the clinic. It is advisable that you wear a shirt that can be
unbuttoned from the front. Any other kind of T-shirt or a pullover may become tricky to remove or worn
again after the procedure & may dislodge your bandage or even damage the grafts after your procedure.
Take a proper shower on the morning of your procedure and thoroughly wash your head with the shampoo
that you use regularly. Avoid using any other products like hair-gel or hairsprays.
You may have your regular breakfast on the day of surgery, preferably before at least an hour or more of the
procedure. Avoid caffeinated beverages like tea & coffee, as they may be dehydrating and may also
increase your heart rate.
Get in touch with our front desk if you need any help with arranging transport or hotel accommodations. It
is advisable to pre-arrange your transport back home following the procedure, as you may feel dizzy under
the effect of medications on the day of your surgery.
Post Hair transplant instructions
Mind your head while navigating around the hospital, vehicle, and your home to avoid bumping into
furniture and hard objects.
Avoid direct exposure of wind, dust, and sunlight on your scalp for the initial week. A loose-fitting protective
cap may be used, while making sure that the cap does not compress the grafted hair or rub against them.
Do not scratch or rub on the grafted area until at least 10-12 days after the surgery.
Instructions will be given to you regarding the posture of sleep and the method of head-wash after your
procedure. Make sure you follow the same to enjoy an uneventful recovery period.
Do not use any cosmetics/hair products/artificial methods of drying hair, such as hairdryers or even a
towel. Letting the hair dry naturally, or with regular speed of a ceiling fan is advisable.
You may notice that the transplanted hair is falling off in the initial few days after the procedure. No need to
panic, it is the expected ‘Shock loss’ where the hair shafts fall off, but the hair follicles will remain in the
scalp. These hair follicles will eventually give rise to new hair, which become noticeable after 3-4 months.
The best result of the procedure may be evident only after 8-9 months and is permanent.
You may notice crusting over your scalp, which may be the remnants or debris of fallen hair, skin and/or
